چکیده

The aerodynamic characteristics directly affect driving characteristics, stability, operation, oil consumption, and safety of automobiles. The aerodynamic analyses of automobiles, such as the virtual wind tunnel experiment simulation, based on finite element methods have provided useful theoretical reference to automobile bodywork design. In this study, the air flow vector variation and distribution of air pressure was obtained. The simulation results show that air flow yields high pressure area on the top and the bottom of the cars. The vortex flow yields behind cars and varies from intensity to infirmness. The air resistance force to car bodywork increases and the air lifting force decreases with the slantwise angle of back windshield increasing.

Numerical simulation of flood wave propagation due to failure of dam watersheds in fluent model

By numerical simulation of the phenomenon of failure of dams and the flow of their flow, it is possible to design more precisely the structures and their location. The purpose of this study was to investigate the wave propagation phenomenon due to the failure of the rocky mortar-watering dam in the Marivan sub-basin of Zarivar in two-dimensional and three-dimensional models using the Fluent mod...

Scientific Flow Field Simulation of Cruciform Missiles Through the Thin Layer Navier Stokes Equations

The thin-layer Navier-Stokes equations are solved for two complete missile configurations on an IBM 3090-200 vectro-facility supercomputer. The conservation form of the three-dimensional equations, written in generalized coordinates, are finite differenced and solved on a body-fitted curvilinear grid system developed in conjunction with the flowfield solver. The numerical procedure is based on ...

A New Guideline for the Allocation of Multipoles in the Multiple Multipole Method for Two Dimensional Scattering from Dielectrics

A new guideline for proper allocation of multipoles in the multiple multipole method (MMP) is proposed. In an ‘a posteriori’ approach, subspace fitting (SSF) is used to find the best location of multipole expansions for the two dimensional dielectric scattering problem. It is shown that the best location of multipole expansions (regarding their global approximating power) coincides with the med...

Analysis of Flow Pattern with Low Reynolds Number around Different Shapes of Bridge Piers, and Determination of Hydrodynamic Forces, using Open Foam Software

In many cases, a set of obstacles, such as bridge piers and abutments, are located in the river waterway. Bridge piers disrupt river’s normal flow, and the created turbulence and disturbance causes diversion of flow lines and creates rotational flow. Geometric shape and position of the piers with respect to flow direction and also number of piers and their spacing are effective on changing the ...

Finite Element Analysis of Different Hip Implant Designs along with Femur under Static Loading Conditions

Background: The hip joint is the largest joint after the knee, which gives stability to the whole human structure. The hip joint consists of a femoral head which articulates with the acetabulum. Due to age and wear between the joints, these joints need to be replaced with implants which can function just as a natural joint. Since the early 19th century, the hip joint arthroplasty has evolved, a...
